Wonders of Ozone

What is Ozone?

Ozone (O3) is a highly reactive odorless gas made of oxygen. I think a lot of people will be interested to know that ozone occurs quite readily in nature, a result of lightning that occurs during thunderstorms.

How does ozone do wonders on the environment?

Ozone is biocidal, meaning it can disinfect harmful contaminants present in the environment and rendering them harmless while also removing odor. Let me explain further. Remember Ozone is composed of 3 atoms, when one of those atoms spots a contaminant such as odor, viruses and bacteria, the said atom breaks away from the other 2 atoms and attaches itself to the contaminant.  The explosion between the two changes the contaminant into carbon dioxide and hydrogen, which we can breathe. The other two atoms left behind became a pure oxygen (O2) without the presence of the contaminant. This process is called oxidation, you may check the image below to get the picture of it.

How is ozone made?

There are 2 ways to produce ozone: ultraviolet rays (UV) and corona discharge (CD). With UV ozone generation, the light that passed over a UV lamp splits oxygen molecules making it reattach into ozone (O3).

While Corona Discharge ozone generation is accomplished by passing air through an electrical field. Ozone is produced by the used of electric current that splits oxygen molecules then creates ozone.

What sets the two method apart? UV generators cannot produce high concentration of ozone so air needs to be exposed on UV lamps for a longer period of time making it more time consuming. And here's corona discharge generator  that  can produce 90% higher concentrations of ozone. With that you don't need much time and energy in order to produce a high ozone level making it more cost effective.

Where can we use ozone?
Ozone can be used for tons of application. I will enumerate some of the application wherein ozone can be beneficial for you.

Water purification
>Ozone is known for its excellent disinfection capability that is why it is widely used for water purification. Ozone can oxidize metal in water such as iron and manganese and turn it into a soluble particles. And the best thing about using ozone is that there is no chemical added to the water; ozone reverts back to oxygen after it is used.

Odor elimination in indoor environment
>Have you noticed the fresh air after a thunderstorm? Fresh air is a result of nature's creation of ozone every time there is thunderstorm . Ozone breaks down odor-causing molecules spotted in an indoor environment may it be a smell of tobacco, pets odor and garbage.

Food Sterilization
> There are a lot of people that is surprised to know that they can actually use ozone for food sterilization. Using a tube, ozone is infused on the water where the fruits and vegetables are placed for cleaning and ozone destroys the bacteria and pesticides on the surface of any vegetable and fruits. Not only that ozone also helps extend the shelf-life and maintain the quality of freshness of seafoods, meats and vegetable.

Fish pond
>For the fish hobbyist out there, ozone can be a big help on your aquarium or Fish Pond! Ozone is proven to help oxidize dissolve organics that can discolor the water making the water in the fish pond and aquarium crystal clear. Addition to that ozone can be used to control algae growth in your pond.

The above mention applications requires something called an ozone generator, you may check the available Ozone Generators on GXPRODUCTS at your disposal.

NOTE: We would also like to remind everyone that we must be careful when using ozone in an occupied environment, more ozone doesn't mean it will be more effective. Ozone can work even when humans are not able to smell it. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), have stipulated that the safe allowable level of residual is 0.1 ppm (parts per million) throughout an entire 8 hour day.

So there all the information that you need to know about ozone! You may also share via comments below what you think about ozone and what are the benefits ozone has brought to you.

Do fishing with no worries using a Waterproof bag

How expensive is your Fish Finder? US$50.00? US$100? or maybe US$1000? Fish Finder nowadays really cost an arm and a leg, therefore you cannot afford to have it got damage especially by water. We cannot avoid our Fish Finder from getting wet every once in a while when we are out Fishing it's just that we cannot control how our Fish Finder will react to the splash of water. Perhaps it can cause your Fish Finder to get unstable readings or worse case scenario: unable to switch it on at all. Consider yourself lucky if you have a Fully Waterproof Fish Finder, you will never have to worry even if you have dropped your sounder in the water but if your Sounder let say is Water Resistant only then you are in BIG trouble.

How can you go Fishing with ease when you are thinking of the safety of your Fish Finder? I recommend that you get a Waterproof Bag just like what you are seeing on the image below. This waterproof bag allows your Fish Finder to be 100% submerge in the water without getting wet and damage.

If you have a Portable Fish Finder I think it will totally fit in this Waterproof Bag for it has a size of 10 inches x 6 inches, pretty huge right? And if I may add this waterproof bag is made from PVC, which is usually used to make floor sheets, water pipes, waterproof cartons, rain coats and a lot of items that is in regular contact with water. Because this waterproof bag is made of PVC it is treated to resist the penetration of water, making your Fish Finder safe. With all those information given you can be rest assured that you can keep your Fish Finder Protected and Watertight!

Quick Fix for your Heart Rate Monitor Problem

A heart rate monitor is very helpful in achieving an effective work out. Knowing your Heart Rate is pivotal to know if you need to level up your exercise or to slow down a little bit. But how can that be possible when you are having a problem on your heart rate monitor. Problems that can arise are: No Heart Rate display, Inconsistent Heart Rate, Frozen Display and a lot more. Ease your mind, we can help you to fix the problem so let's start!

We have listed the root cause why you are having a problem in making your Heart Rate Monitor to work and what are the troubleshooting you can do solve the problem.

Cause of Problem on the Heart Rate readings

1. Electrical interference
-There are a lot of external sources that can cause interference: electrical appliances such as TV, Computer that uses electricity and even power lines near our device can cause an interruption when the chest belt is transmitting data to the watch causing erratic readings.

2. Not enough voltage of battery
-Do I need to mention this one? Battery is the life force of our Heart Rate Monitor and Chest Strap, you need to make sure that the batteries has enough voltage for the unit to work.

3. Not enough moisture on the chest belt
-Did you know that moist can help the chest strap make good contact with the skin? Wetting the grooved sensors of your chest belt using water, sweat and even saliva can be beneficial to register good connection between the chest belt and your skin.

4. Improper position of the chest strap
-This is the most important thing we should need to be aware of; the proper position of the grooved sensor. We should not position the chest belt on just any part of the body, it must be position where it can directly pick up data to be transmitted to the watch.

We have tackled the reasons why we are experiencing problem in our Heart Rate Monitor now we should discuss what are the steps we can do to fix the problem.

1. Move away from the source of interference.
-As much as possible perform your exercise or fitness regime on a place with no interference. Take the living room for example there is a bunch of appliances can be found that can cause interference so better do your exercise outside.

2. Replace the battery for both the chest belt and watch
-When the readings are getting erratic or you are noticing that the connection between the watch and chest strap is ceasing for a couple of times then it's time to replace the battery either of the watch or chest strap.

 3. Wet the grooved sensors of the chest belt
-On your first use you may use water to wet the conductive pad of the chest belt, eventually when you are doing your exercise and you are already sweating a lot, sweat can used to moisten the belt. One thing to bear in mind you should wet the conductive pad of the chest belt or the grooved sensor. You may take a look on the image below for you to have an idea which is the conductive part.

4. Wear the chest strap correctly
- Where should you position the chest belt? Chest belt should sit snugly below the pectoral muscles and in direct contact with your skin. Avoid wearing the chest belt on the part with dense hair to avoid interruption on the transmission of data.

5. Clean the transmitter
-Sweat can build up on the chest strap thus preventing the chest strap to report the correct data to the watch. We strongly recommend cleaning the chest strap by rinsing it with fresh water to avoid sweat build up.  Do not use abrasive or corrosive materials to clean the chest strap; abrasive cleaning agent may scratch the plastic parts and corrode the electronic circuit.

6. Using a Heart Rate Gel
-There are so called Heart Rate Gel that can be used to get better conductivity. It is designed to improve the connection between your heart rate monitor's chest strap and your skin. This is a very good option especially if you find sweat and saliva gross to put on the groove sensor of the chest strap.
