Understanding pH more

We all studied pH at school; its definition, how to measure it so we can determine what is base and what is acid without fully understanding the significance of pH into our lives. Take me as an example, I didn't pay so much attention to this topic way back in High School thinking it has nothing to do with me. But now that I have grown up, I came to realize that it has a big effect to every one of us and we should study this topic very well. Having said that what I am going to discuss today is about pH and what is the meaning attach to it.

Let's start by knowing what does pH means? If we are going to explain pH scientifically it is 'the negative logarithm of the Hydrogen ion concentration' but in simple terms pH is the measure of the alkalinity and acidity of a substance. pH has a scale of 0-14, with 7 as neutral, greater than7 as alkaline and lower than 7 as acidic. Now what does acidity and alkalinity has to do with us? You may recall comparing an acid from base and the importance of pH balance. Our bodies needs enough amount of acid in order to function normally, our ideal pH should be a balance of about 7 to 7.4. When our body does not meet the normal pH then we might face health problems that we do not want to happen. And because of that we should be very cautious about what we eat or drink.

As they say prevention is better than cure so it will be better for us to measure our bodies pH and also the pH of the food and drinks that we intake to make sure it has the right pH that our body requires. You can test your pH levels regularly by using a piece of litmus paper in your saliva or urine first thing in the morning; before eating or drinking anything. You could also measure pH in the food and drinks you are taking using a pH meter.

After knowing the pH of the food and drinks you have it's time for you to categorize which is acidic and which alkaline. We have prepared a pH scale for the beverages that we usually intake. Hope this scale can help you regulate the right amount of pH you are taking.

Troubleshooting for Signal Loss on your FFW-718 Fish Finder

I have another information to share for every Fishing Hobbyist out there about the signal loss problem on their Lucky Fish Finder FFW-718. Some would definitely find the Main Unit as the Culprit but it's not, the fault is probably on your Wireless Sensor. Yes you have read it right, the sensor is at fault when there is no signal since it's the wireless sensor that transmit signal to the main unit. So continue reading up to the very end of this post to know the troubleshooting that you can do to get the signal back to your unit.

When you have encountered signal loss on your Fish Finder one of the things you can do is to check if the battery of the Wireless Sensor is installed correctly. Kindly do the step by step as per the instruction in the photo. If the battery is not well installed, then the sensor cannot transmit signal, just so the handset cannot receive any signal and display "No signal".

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-Sonar-Sensor-Depth-and-Built-in-Water-Temperature-Sensor-433-92MHz-/191178747240?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c83242d68

If you have done the instruction above and the problem is still there, I advise you to check if water went inside the sensor. Did you know that even a little water invisible to our naked eyes may cause the sensor to fail. So open the battery compartment cover of the sensor and place it under the sun and let it dry for about half an hour. Or you may use air blower to let it dry. Please be reminded to not hold the air blower too close to the sensor and do not blow continuously to avoid causing damage on the sensor. When the sensor is already dry, it is better to change new battery as well and have a test again with your Fish Finder.

So there you have it, the above mentioned troubleshooting techniques to fix the problem in your wireless sensor. If the problem still persist I advise you to check with the supplier where you bought your Fishing Gears on the next step you can do.

Do you have any suggestion on how to fix this problem? Your suggestions and comments are so much welcome.

Learn more about Mosquitoes and How we can protect ourselves from Mosquito Bites

http://www.ebay.com/itm/110V-240V-Ultrasonic-Wave-Mosquito-Repeller-With-LED-Indicator-30-Square-Meter-/181577677825?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

Small but terrible is the best description for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes might be considered as one of the smallest animal on earth yet it is the deadliest animal. You may think that it’s a lion, great white shark or a Siberian tiger that is deadly among the list of animals but according to National Geographic the deadliest animal on earth is the mosquitoes. Aside from the nuisance factor, mosquitoes are also carriers of some of humanity’s most deadly illnesses and believe to be public enemy number one against global infectious disease. I know that can be bothersome, as we all know it is very seldom to find a place which is mosquito free - they are found everywhere. Let me lessen your worries by informing you facts about mosquitoes, how we can avoid them and protect our loved ones from the danger of mosquito bites.

Facts about Mosquitoes:

1. Mosquitoes can smell human breath.
-Mosquitoes do not have good vision. But they have receptors on their antennae that detect the carbon dioxide released when we exhale. Those plumes of CO2 rise into the air, acting as trails that the mosquitoes follow to find the source.

2. Only female mosquitoes bite humans and animals; males feed on flower nectar.
-Female mosquitoes need protein for their eggs, and must take a blood meal in order to reproduce. Since males don't bear the burden of producing young, they'll avoid you completely and head for the flowers instead. And when not trying to produce eggs, females are happy to stick to nectar, too.

3. All mosquitoes must have water to complete their life cycle.
-Mosquitoes breed in stagnant, standing fresh water oftentimes found around the home.

4. Sweat helps mosquitoes choose their victims
-Our skin can produce more than 340 chemical odors, and some of them smell like dinner to mosquitoes. They are fond of octenol, a chemical released in sweat.

5. Mosquito- borne diseases cause several million deaths and hundreds of millions of cases every year:
-Mosquitoes can spread deadly diseases such as malaria, dengue, yellow fever and a lot more. Malaria is endemic in 91 countries, with about 40% of the world's population at risk. Dengue is the world's most important mosquito-borne virus disease, with 2500 million people worldwide at risk of infection and 20 million cases a year in more than 100 countries.

6. The bumps from mosquito bites are caused by saliva.
-The saliva results in an allergic response from the victim’s immune system; that’s why your skin gets an itchy bump.

7. Female Mosquitoes is a very light creature.
-It’s no surprise that we don’t feel them when they land on our arm -- an adult female mosquito weighs just 1/15,000 ounce or about 2.0 milligrams.

How To AVOID Mosquitoes?

Recently Gain express has launched a campaign entitled "How to A.V.O.I.D Mosquitoes?" this campaign aims to spread awareness to the public on how to prevent Mosquito Bites. Let's practice "A.V.O.I.D in order for us to protect ourselves and our loved ones from the danger of mosquito bites.

A-VOID
Avoid working or playing outdoors at dawn or dusk

V-ACANT

PH8685 Calibration Procedure for Optimal Results

Calibration is one of the most important thing you need to do to ensure the accuracy of your pH meter. That's the reason why its very important for us to do the calibration properly. In my today's post I will show everyone what is the proper way of doing the calibration for one of the most reliable model of pH meter- PH868-5.

PH868-5 lets you measure the concentration of salt water & brine, pH and Temperature of your aquarium and a lot more. This Meter has a unique calibration design that features automatic buffer recognition to avoid error. Just to give you an idea a pH meter with "Automatic buffer recognition" has calibration data pre-stored for pH buffers. The meter will recognize what buffer you use and allow you to choose the order in which to use the different buffers when calibrating. Great isn't it?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Point-Auto-Calibration-Waterproof-Digital-PH-Meter-Free-Buffer-Solutions-/191269818870?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c8891d1f6

So let's start doing the calibration process, just do the following step by step procedure.

1. Power on the meter.

2. Place the electrode into the buffer solution (4, 7 or 10). 7pH should be calibrated first and then 4pH or 10pH for better accuracy.

3. Press "CAL" to enter pH calibration mode. The text CA will appear on the LCD for one second and then the pH value (4, 7 or 10) will be displayed on the LCD.

4. If probe or buffer is in error the meter will escape calibration mode automatically after 10 seconds. Text "EN" will appear on the LCD in one second and then will go back to normal status. Simply press the hold button to adjust the value if buffer solution is not 4, 7, or 10 such as pH3.5, 4.50, etc.

5. To save the calibration value: When the electrode reads a stable value and the user stops pressing any keys, the meter will automatically save the value and then escape the calibration mode.

Please do not forget to rinse the probe with De-ionized water or rinse solution (tap water) after each measurement to last the meter's life.  Just repeat the above steps until 3 points calibration is finished.

I hope this post have helped you to do the calibration process.
